Adelaide ICC - News
The Adelaide Convention Centre has been the centre for community health professionals from around the world at a major conference that finished yesterday.
The International Conferences on Community Health Nursing Research (ICCHNR) has injected an estimated $1.7 million in the local economy, attracting about 450 attendees from countries such as Japan, Korea, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Ghana, the United States, Kenya and Saudi Arabia.
Featuring more than 360 national and international presentations, trade displays, breakfast sessions, networking dinners with speakers, a symposium on disaster response and recovery and an extensive social program, ICCHNR has once again proven the Adelaide Convention Centre’s versatility and expertise in hosting major global meetings and events.
“Adelaide is Australia’s convention city. A place where major conferences are embraced and delegates welcomed,” Adelaide Convention Centre Chief Executive Alec Gilbert says.
“Unlike other cities where big events tend to get lost, in Adelaide they stand out taking over the city streets with guests strolling between Adelaide Convention Centre, luxury hotels, restaurants, cafes, shopping strips and art galleries.
“With an international airport just a 10 minute drive from the city centre and superb accommodation options for thousands of delegates in Adelaide, the city is an ideal backdrop for international conferences and Adelaide Convention Centre the perfect venue.”
As well as a range of international speakers, Reverend Tim Costello spoke at the conference about Healing in the 21st Century while the Royal District Nursing Service of South Australia presented a Disaster Symposium on response and recovery.
The Health in Transition conference focussed on presenting real solutions for global health trends.
