Australia
You‘re invited to one of the most exciting destinations on Earth. Australia.
A land of vibrant colours, breathtaking beauty, clean air and clear light.
This country is a traveller’s jewel box. You’ll find rainforests and deserts, strange and wonderful wildlife, and the longest golden beaches you’ve ever seen. You’ll find bustling modern cities and laid-back country towns; it’s an ancient land with a young attitude.
Australia is proud of its professional society and this, too, makes the country an attractive option for international congresses and their delegates. Delegates will feel welcomed among Australia’s ethnically diverse citizens who are as famous for their friendliness as their directness. Having English as the official language is a fortunate advantage to have in the international association sector but having access to lots of other languages is also a benefit when moving large numbers of delegates around!
It’s really not surprising that Australia is one of the top 10 most popular countries for international conferences.
Australia is highly accessible for international delegates, with over 30 international and domestic airlines operating across its main airport hubs including Adelaide.
Adelaide
Adelaide, the picturesque capital city of South Australia, is centrally located on the eastern shores of the Gulf of St Vincent.
For the second consecutive year Adelaide has been ranked the 8th most liveable city in the world by The Economist Intelligence Unit and it is no surprise with a mild Mediterranean climate, white sandy beaches, wide sweeping streets, city squares, parklands, a charming blend of historic buildings and a variety of shops, cafes and restaurants.
Adelaide is widely recognised as the 20-minute city: easy to reach, easy to get around, easy on the pocket, and with a well-deserved “green” reputation. Organisers and delegates appreciate the value of an easily accessible and stress-free city. Where else can you land at the international airport, check into your 5-star hotel and then walk to the adjacent multiple award-winning convention centre all within 30 minutes?
On an international scale our accommodation is very affordable and in 2010 Adelaide was highlighted as having the most affordable accommodation in Australia (Tourism & Transport Forum).
Adelaide is the perfect location for delegates wanting to experience the authentic “Australian” experience. On the city’s doorstep are the world famous wine regions of the Barossa, Adelaide Hills and McLean Vale, the outback landscape of the Flinders Ranges and the unspoilt wilderness of Kangaroo Island.
Adelaide enjoys high frequency, direct international flights with Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Qantas Airways, Cathay Pacific and Virgin Australia, conveniently connecting Adelaide to Asia, Europe and beyond. Air New Zealand operates direct between Adelaide and New Zealand with convenient connections directly to the United States.
Adelaide’s central position on the continent ensures the most convenient gateway to the rest of Australia with fast, frequent and affordable connections to all major domestic destinations.
Our stunning centre is situated in the city centre, on the banks of the River Torrens, with dramatic views of parklands, the famous Adelaide Oval and the spires of the St Peter’s Cathedral.

The Venue
The multiple award winning Adelaide Convention Centre enjoys a global reputation for excellence and is consistently ranked among the world's top convention centres. Our conference facilities include a Plenary Hall seating up to 3500 delegates and 10,400 m2 of pillarless exhibition space. The Plenary Hall’s tiered seating sections can be raised or lowered individually to create either theatre style seating, or a flat floor for convention purposes. The Centre offers 14 serviced meeting rooms which can accommodate between 30 and 200 people and are ideal for break-out sessions, workshops, intimate luncheons, dinners or cocktail gatherings.
Expansion
The Adelaide Convention Centre’s exciting two stage redevelopment will significantly increase flexibility, capacity and facilities. Stage one of the extension to be completed in 2014 includes an additional 4,300 square metres of multipurpose convention floor space, associated pre-function spaces, multiple meeting spaces and 570-seat ballroom with spectacular views of the sun setting over the River Torrens and Parklands.
Stage two of the extension to be completed in 2017 includes a plenary capacity of up to 3,500+ seats or 3000 square metres of flat floor space. This venue can be subdivided and configured within minutes as pre-function space, ballroom, exhibition or plenary space.
Total area will increase to approximately 20,000m2 and over 20 new meeting rooms will be added. This extension will provide three distinct and individually iconic buildings with the ability to host three conferences concurrently with each conference owning their own space or it can flow seamlessly internally to host one single major conference.
Food and Wine
The Adelaide Convention Centre is consistently acknowledged for the brilliant quality and delivery of its food and beverage product. Our menus have been created with passion and flair by our internationally trained and experienced chefs. They showcase the freshest local and regional produce, creating a modern Australian cuisine that also incorporates the flavours of the East. The wine list reflects the world-wide renowned wine heritage of South Australia, with selections from the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and the Adelaide Hills. Other Australian and imported wines are available on request. Your success is our success and we will partner with you to ensure your event is memorable.
